These pretty little packets or envelopes are known as Japanese tatos. Bernice will teach a variety of lovely models that can be used to hold small flat items like a coin or special message. It’s a great special touch for a gift.

 
ACTION TOYS taught by Wendy Zeichner LOW INTERMEDIATE

Don’t let your origami just sit there, play with it! Wendy will teach a variety of action models that slide, twirl, snap or fly to delight the child in all of us! These are great models to amuse a special person in your life (even if it’s a grown-up!)  Children are welcome.

 
TRADITIONAL WESTERN PAPERFOLDING taught by Gay Merrill Gross INTERMEDIATE

Traditional origami comes not only from Japan and China, but also from Europe. Gay will talk about the Western roots of paperfolding and fold with you several traditional models of Western origin.

What’s black and white and too cute for words? This two piece panda created by Susumu Nakajima. Kay will teach this sweet model which can be posed in three different positions, but needs a bit of glue to keep the head on the body. It is a flat model that looks great on a card.

This classic model created by Max Hulme is folded from a single rectangle. While not exactly an action model, there’s a nice spring to this Jack. Tony will teach you this fun to fold model that delights all who see it.

Ros Joyce will teach you the secrets of wetfolding—the best papers, wetting techniques and models that lend themselves to this. If you’ve always thought about wetfolding or only done it a few times, here’s your chance to learn from an expert. Models used to illustrate wetfolding will be simple, but the techniques can be applied to models of all levels.

 
MICERONI and CHEESE taught by Tricia Tait INTERMEDIATE

Learn to make Paul Jackson’s adorable mouse and Dave Brill’s cheese and then play the Miceroni and Cheese Game- an interactive origami puzzle. Tricia will teach the models, a game board and how to play. The idea is to switch the mice and cheese in the fewest number of moves. Tricia will bring a hole puncher for your choice of Swiss or cheddar cheese. In honor of the Year of the Rat, more mouse models will be squeaked in as time permits!
