SPECIAL FOLDING FUN SESSIONS
April 3rd, 2005 (AM & PM)

Sunday, April 3rd, 2005 - Morning (10:30am - 12:30pm)

ORIGAMI ENRICHMENT taught by Toshiko Kobayashi SIMPLE
Toshiko uses origami as art therapy. Join her for a lesson in how to use origami to help children and families. Using non-conventional materials and simple models, Toshiko will share her methods. This is a great opportunity for educators also! This class was nearly a sell-out last time it was given.

ELEPHANT taught by Ravi Apte INTERMEDIATE
Here's how a class with Ravi goes. . . You start with the model he's teaching, and then he'll throw in a bunch of "extras." This time Ravi will begin with Kawahata's elephant. It's 3-D, it's very cute, and yet elegant. Before you know it you'll be packing away tons of these charming pachyderms and an "extra" fun time. (Note: actual model is much cuter than web photo.)

STACKING CONTAINERS taught by MaryAnn Scheblein-Dawson INTERMEDIATE
Though the bottom of these containers is square, the sides are faceted with isosceles triangles. Mary Ann will show you how to make these useful containers and then stack 'em up. Variations as time permits.

SPRING BULBS taught by June Sakamoto HIGH INTERMEDIATE
If you forgot to plant bulbs last fall, here is the solution! June will teach a beautiful daffodil and iris. Folders must have the ability to fold neatly and accurately (especially for the daffodil) and be VERY comfortable with SINKS! These flowers are amazingly realistic. Great idea: Fold these in the morning and then fold the SCULPTED VASE in the afternoon!

5-STAGE TESSELATION taught by Omer Shalev COMPLEX
I told you that Fujimoto tessellations are hot, hot, hot! Omer will teach this five-stage tessellation with an interesting square pattern. Lots of fun sinking and squashing for a complex folder!

Sunday, April 3rd, 2005 - Afternoon (2:30pm - 5pm)

SO, YOU WANT TO TEACH ORIGAMI taught by Toby Schwartz SIMPLE
Toby will provide some sure-fire teaching techniques for teaching beginners. You'll walk away with one dozen easy-to-teach models including: magazine cover box, traditional swan, triangle sailboat, scrunch tree, jumping frog, stamp case, rocket, yapping crow, logo sailboat, seated fox, Laura's swan, and an angelfish. (This class is geared for adults who want to teach.)

CONTAINERS taught by Jan Polish INTERMEDIATE
Origami containers are useful for so many things: as a decoration, a gift, or even for serving. Jan will teach various elegant models from Japan with beautiful lines that are so simple, yet so... intermediate. I love 'em.

ISHIBASHI BALL EARRINGS taught by Ros Joyce INTERMEDIATE
Ros will teach the wonderful six-piece ishibashi ball which makes a great ornament when folded from 6 inch paper. When you fold a pair from small, fancy paper they make great earrings. Ros will show you how to turn this model (or other models if you wish) into origami jewelry using beads, wire and findings. A materials fee of $3 will be collected at class time.

ORNAMENTS taught by Anita Barbour INTERMEDIATE
Is it too early to start making ornaments for next year's tree? You know it's not. Anita will teach several ornaments from her new book, Easy Origami Ornaments. Some are pleated, some are spirals, some are 'blossoms' - all are great to hang!

SCULPTED VASE taught by Marcia Joy Miller HIGH INTERMEDIATE
Marcia will show you how to fold her design for a lovely faceted vase. It can be used together with your favorite origami flowers for a gift (hint-fold the SPRING BULBS in the morning). A terrific idea for Mother's Day!
