the PAPER Web Archive - FAQ

What is the Paper?
The PAPER is the magazine of OrigamiUSA. It contains origami news, events, book reviews, articles by and about leaders in the Origami community, tips & techniques, and diagrams for everyone from beginners to experienced folders.
How can I get a copy?
Membership in OrigamiUSA includes a subscription to the PAPER. More information about the organization, and how to join, is available here.
Why are only some of the issues of the PAPER in this web archive?
This web archive is the result of OrigamiUSA member volunteer labor, and we're adding information incrementally. Cover scanning and content gathering is underway - please check back often for updates!
Why is the format and content of the information here different from issue to issue?
The PAPER itself has changed quite a lot over the years. When creating this web archive, we tried to capture the varied structure and format of the magazine contents as best we could, and that meant that not all archive entries are exactly the same. For older issues, this meant building a table of contents by reading over each issue and describing each article. In this process, some very short, announcement-type articles were not included. For later issues, the table of contents, as printed in the magazine, was used instead.
Can I buy back issues?
Not at present. We are exploring the possibility. Please let us know if you'd be interested in purchasing back issues if they were to become available.
Are the back issues ever going to be downloadable?
We do not, at present, have permission from authors for electronic redistribution of their materials. We are working on changing this for the future. If you are the author of an article or diagram used in a past issue and would like to give OrigamiUSA permission to republish it here, please let us know! And if you're an OrigamiUSA member and would like to help out by getting in touch with authors and getting permission to electronically republish contents from the PAPER, we'd also like to hear from you. We are exploring the possibility of making electronic versions of future issues of the magazine available online, as well.
Where can I report errors, or ommissions or other problems with the archive?
Please use the contact form here to let us know if you find any problems with any of the pages in the web archive, or have suggestions or other comments on the project. Thanks for your help!
What's that crease pattern in the upper right corner of the pages?
That's a part of the crease pattern from Robert J. Lang's "Hermit Crab," used with permission of the creator. You can see the full crease pattern, and a photo of the model, here.
