In addition, this year will be the 50th anniversary of the founding of The Origami Center of America by Lillian Oppenheimer, so we will be celebrating "50 Years of Origami in America," and we are planning several exciting features to honor this milestone. |

Exhibition Salem, Massachusetts, USA Works in this intimately scaled exhibition in the museum's Art and Nature Center demonstrate the breadth of origami art, ranging from depictions of nature to self-portraits and abstract forms. In addition to showing masterworks of origami, the exhibition reveals connections between origami and innovations in other disciplines, such as design, medicine and math. Feb 17 to July 20, 2008 -- Squares-Folds-Life: Contemporary Origami by Robert J. Lang Indianapolis, Indiana, USA Star Studio at Indianapolis Museum of Art will feature works by Robert J. Lang, a former physicist and engineer turned artist, whose innovative approach to the traditional art of Origami has earned him a reputation as one of the world's most important Origami artists. The exhibition in Star Studio will include examples of Lang's complex and realistic work, including monumental paper sculptures created at the IMA for the exhibition. The exhibition will also give visitors the opportunity to learn to make their own folded paper creations, which will be incorporated into a unique visitor-generated installation.

York, in the upcoming exhbition "Design and the Elastic Mind". The show is open to the public from February 24 to May 12, 2008. (MoMA members

March 22 to May 16, 2008 -- Origami Exhibition Edinburgh, Scotland An exhibition, at the Museum of Edinburgh, outlining the history and development of origami, the Japanese art of paperfolding. The exhibition will be illustrated by many stunning folded models. Come along and see how much more there is to this fascinating art form.
There will also be a few Saturday workshops on offer for those who want to try their hand at Origami for themselves. Members of the British Origami Society will be on hand at these workshops to teach, assist and answer any questions you may have about origami.

May 23 - June 1, 2008 -- The Life of Paper Vancouver, BC, Canada The Life of Paper is an innovative new theatrical work developed in collaboration with origami master Joseph Wu. Premiering in May of 2008, Pangaea Arts will fuse the ancient art of paper folding with live theatrical performance. The Life of Paper will be an architectural feast, featuring a stunning world made entirely of paper, and combining elements of East and West.
The play is scheduled to run from May 23 to June 1, 2008 at the Roundhouse Community Centre. More...

July 13, 2008 -- Long Beach Origami Festival Long Beach, California, USA The annual CSU Long Beach Origami Festival is usually held on the 3rd Sunday in July. It's held on the grounds of their spectacular Japanese Garden, which includes a large carp pond, a bridge, walkways, a gazebo, and untold numbers of beautiful plants and trees. July 22-24, 2008 -- Israeli Origami Convention Jerusalem, Israel The Israeli Origami Center and Folding Together project will organize a special origami Convention and Festival in the Old City of Jerusalem during late July 2008. Special guest will be Eric Joisel.
It will be held at the Moriah Classic which is a Five Star hotel and one of Jerusalem’s best. We are privileged to receive very special room rates. Many of its rooms give a view over the Old City and to other Biblical sites. The hotel is a 20 minute stroll from the Via Dolorosa, Wailing Wall and Dome of the Rock.

July 24-28, 2008 -- Origami Regards from the World to Jerusalem Festival Jerusalem, Israel Thousands of origami designs will be hung above the narrow streets of the Old City at the intersection of the Christian, Jewish and Moslem quarters, to create a spectacular canopy of origami under which people will walk. The Festival has the enthusiastic support of the Jerusalem City Council, though to maintain its neutrality in a City of three religions, the event is not affiliated to any religious group nor receives any official sponsorship.
During the Festival, 800 children of the 3 religions will be bussed to the site from all over Israel to fold together. Origami artists will visit schools within the walls of the Old City to give special workshops.
