On-Site Accommodations at Manhattan College

Accommodations are available at Horan Hall at Manhattan College, beginning the night of Wednesday, June 17th through the night of Tuesday, June 23rd. This housing is in basic (bed, dresser, desk) student suites in secure, air-conditioned, elevator buildings on the campus a short walk from the main convention site. The suites contain two bedrooms, each with two beds, and a common bathroom. There is no kitchen or sitting room in the suites, although the bedrooms are fairly large. There is a common lounge on each floor with easy chairs, TV, sink, stove and microwave. There is no refrigerator. The building also has a common rec room.

Linens are included: pillow, blanket, sheet set and small towel. Free parking is available, and three meals are included in the daily rate. Complimentary laundry facilities are available on each floor. There is free wi-fi throughout the campus.

Accommodations at Manhattan College include three meals at an all-you-can-eat buffet in Locke's Loft located in Thomas Hall. The three meals are: dinner on each night of your stay and breakfast and lunch for the next day. For example, if you are staying Friday night, dinner on Friday and breakfast and lunch on Saturday are included. There is no need to purchase meals, unless you need to supplement the included meals with additional meals if, for example, you're arriving early enough to want to purchase lunch on the day of your first night.

If you are staying at Manhattan College on Monday night (for which your fees include dinner at Locke's Loft) and wish to join us at the banquet, we'd be glad to refund the Locke's Loft dinner cost. Just order the banquet on your registration form, and email us at convention-registration [at] origamiusa.org to process the refund.

You have the option of sharing your room with others or staying alone. Manhattan College charges us by bed, not by person. Therefore, if you want to stay alone in a half suite or whole suite, you must pay for the unused beds. The costs for the different housing options are as follows:

  • $98 per night if sharing (you may choose your roommates and/or ask us to find ones for any unfilled beds)
  • $163 per night if you want one half of the suite to yourself (you may choose the people in the other suite room and/or ask us to find ones for any unfilled beds)
  • $293 per night if you want the entire suite to yourself

Note that the price differentials ensure that each person is paying only once for meals.

Each person must pay for their own meals and registration cost. This means that if two people are staying together in one room (a half-suite), you must register each person separately - you cannot register one person for a half suite and indicate that someone is your roommate. The half-suite category is for people who are staying alone in that room, and the cost has been calculated so that you do not pay for meals or fees for the empty bed.

If you do not have enough people for a complete suite, we will match you with others. All OrigamiUSA matching is done by gender. Note that if you reserve three beds in a mixed-sex suite (e.g. a couple and a child), and ask us to find a fourth person, we will attempt to find a single person willing to share in a mixed sex suite. If we are unable to find a fourth person, you will be responsible for the cost of the fourth bed. We encourage you, therefore, to find a fourth person yourself.

Anyone under 18 who is staying in Manhattan College Housing must also have a Guardian over 21 who is also staying in Manhattan College housing.

Manhattan College has a very strict no-alcohol no-drugs policy for all housing areas. Please respect their rules.

Manhattan College is not certain they will be able to expand our contracted room commitment. Therefore it is especially essential this year that all Manhattan College housing forms be sent in as early as possible. We will not be able to guarantee housing for forms received after June 1. If you cancel your Manhattan College housing after June 1, we will refund your money only if we can re-rent your room. We make a sizable financial commitment to Manhattan College to secure housing, and late forms substantially increase our costs and volunteer effort requirement. We have therefore added a charge for forms received after May 20 — please see the housing form for details.

Manhattan College Housing is being handled by Martha Winslow-Cole. If you have any questions about accommodations, write to her at 5222 Duck Springs Road, Attalla, AL 35954, or call her at (256) 538-9727. She can also be reached via email at convention-housing [at] origamiusa.org.

  • Registration for Convention Housing is now closed.
