The PCOC 2013 team is organizing a spectacular post-conference tour for those who can stay over for Monday, October 7! The itinerary is finalized! See details below.

Summary

We'll start bright and early (9:00 am) at the convention hotel. Then, our chartered motor coach will take us up the historic Turquoise Trail National Scenic Byway (Highway 14) to the small town of Cerillos to the Turquoise Trail Sculpture Garden, which is the artist studio of bronze and origami sculptor Kevin Box and his wife Jennifer. We'll get a personal tour of the studio from Kevin himself (with the assistance of his often-collaborator, Robert J. Lang), see work in progress, and wander the lovely grounds, viewing the outdoor sculptures and the rock formations of the New Mexico Garden of the Gods.

From there, our coach will continue on up the road to Santa Fe, the oldest (and most charming!) state capital in the US. Our destination is the historic Santa Fe Plaza for window- or real shopping and lunch in one of the many restaurants there.

After lunch, there are several options: you can explore the neighborhood of the Plaza, hang out, or get a jump on the bus by heading up to our next destination, the famous Canyon Road, the street of art galleries, including the Selby Fleetwood gallery that displays and sells Kevin and Robert's origami/bronze work and many other galleries (in one of which you'll find origami/metal artist Joe Spears' sculptures). Whatever your taste in art (or origami), you're bound to find something of interest.

In late afternoon, we'll gather for pizza, dinner, and folding on the bus as we make our way back to Albuquerque.

The total price will be $60/person, which includes the pizza dinner. For lunch, you'll be on your own (with plenty of choices).
