MTA Origami

John will teach you his version of a tetrahedron folded out of Metrocards, and how to link them together. He will also discuss the challenges of folding out of plastic

Create a dynamic piece of moving sculpture for your home. Learn the secrets of assembling a mobile with Bob and Eunice as they teach you tips and techniques for an impressive balancing act. Be prepared to fold 6 models of your choice for your mobile. Some diagrams will be available during class to fold from but you may fold your choices. A large shopping bag will make the trip home easier. A $2 materials fee will be collected in class.

Aldo will teach his amazing new container, which is sleek and streamlined, as well as an original flower and leaf design. Beautiful colored papers will be provided. 18-piece Cube and Variations

An encore presentation from Convention, Doug has found a new trick or two to make this delightful model, which combines the traditional “tato” unit with Fuse’s “Little Turtle” unit in a clever way. As time permits, some variations for additional decorations will be explored.
Holiday Coasters

If you have never folded before, this “make and take” class is just for you. Doris will teach a set of six coasters. Each coaster is made from two modular units. These are perfect for economical entertaining during the holidays. There is plenty of time to make the units for this model and take home a useful table decoration.
Woven Modular Vase

Recycle the remains of your favorite washi with this sonobe-based model. This model was chosen as appropriate for simple and intermediate folders. The goal is to increase folding speed, accuracy and modular understanding. Using 13 six inch sheets, the resulting rectangular container makes a nice vase. If time permits, smaller size paper will be used for a cityscape of tall and short hollow rectangles.

This class is geared for anyone interested in introducing geometric forms to young children. Since so many things in this world are round, half-round or one-fourth round, you will have fun folding round paper forms. A finished model will contain several pieces of paper that are glued to a background. Some cutting involved. Other shapes will also be discussed. Limited to 10 students.
