Bowls
Get bowled over. Jean will teach a variety of useful bowls and containers. These are perfect for holding nibbles at a party, supplies at your crafting table or just as a lovely decoration. Each bowl is folded from one sheet of paper. Jean will provide a variety of double-sided scrapbooking papers for extra durability and a variety of color choices.
Year of the Rabbit
Hop into the Lunar New Year. Join Jinni as she welcomes in the Year of the Rabbit. First, she will teach a realistic rabbit out of a square by John Montroll. If time permits, she will also show you how to fold a rabbit out of a dollar bill (with the scrollwork of the design perfectly positioned as eyes!).
Baby Buggy
Learn an all-time classic model. This adorable Baby Buggy by Raymond McLain, complete with amazing wheels, hood and handle, makes a perfect shower gift. Martha is an expert at making the impossible seem easy, so let her guide you through the box pleating, collapsing and the clever lock, using Michael Shall’s folding method. Precise folding will guarantee success. Class size limited to 15.
Brochure Box
Save those glossy brochures. You will never look at a pretty brochure the same way again after this class. Delrosa will teach a box with cover adapted from a box by Tomoko Fuse. Depending on the design of the brochure, you will get a stunning kaleidoscopic design on this sturdy, functional and easy-to-make box. Class size limited to 8.
Base-ics
Let’s start with the basics. Or in this case, the base-ics. As the name suggests, origami bases are the start of many models. Annette will introduce you to the Preliminary, Waterbomb, Fish and Bird Bases with a fun variety of models folded from each. Next time a teacher tells you to “begin with a X base,” you’ll know what to do!
Favorite Bascetta Models of Michael Shall
Take a seat and get comfy. When Michael (one of our Founders) returned from an Italian convention, he was raving about these delightful models created by his new friend Paolo Bascetta (our guest at Convention a few years ago). Jan will share these with you: a sofa, cushions and table, along with a purse. Go ahead, put your feet up and relax.
Corsage
Impress your Valentine (next year). Haggit will take you step by step to make this spectacular bouquet of roses (similar to the famous Kawasaki Rose). Kits will be provided to make up to 6 roses with calyx and stem. You will use gorgeous specialty papers to make the roses. Class size limited to 10. A materials fee of $5 will be collected in class.
Spread Hexagon Tessellation
Start a new obsession. Not all tessellations are incredibly difficult even if they look that way. Belle will gently introduce you to the awe-inspiring world of tessellations with this impressive pattern by Eric Gjerde. You will end up with a central hexagon with a circle of overlapping hexagons underneath looking like they are stacked on top of each other.
Multiform
Make almost anything! From a single sheet of paper comes a sequence of 10 models. Using this versatile base, a few additional folds transform each one into the next: fortune teller, salt cellar, windmill, vase, sailboat, pajarita, catamaran, box, picture frame, and Chinese junk. Bob will begin with a new piece of paper each time, so you get to take all 10 home.
Spring Flowers
Add a little color to your life. With only a few days to go before spring, brighten up your décor with these beautiful simple origami flowers. Bernice will help you create an array of flowers which can decorate any desk, can be worn, and can be used on cheery greeting cards. Models might include tulips, lilies and pointsettias as time permits.
