Inspired by a friendly inchworm during a camping trip, John has been busy creating these original insects. The whimsical Lovebug is a variation of his butterfly where the wings form the shape of a heart, making it perfect for Valentine’s Day. More insects will be taught as time permits.

Fabrigami

Extend your origami skills by folding treated fabrics! Kathryn will show the best ways to bond paper to fabric thereby making the fabric foldable. The class will be using fusible web that melts and bonds with the touch of an iron. Then learn to fold boxes and tatos with your new fabrigami. Class size limited to 12. A materials fee of $3 will be collected in class.

Thanksgiving Table Decoration

Create the quintessential Thanksgiving place setting or centerpiece with this charming compound model. Joyce has combined Leyla Torres’ “Abundant Hen” with a fan-fold ornament to form what she calls a “churkey.” No matter, it works well as a turkey. Best of all, the “hen” is actually a gift box and you can put little candies and other treasures inside for your guests to discover.

Chinese Zodiac Masks

Annie has recently been designing animal masks of the Chinese Zodiac for an exhibition. She will teach three of these spectacular masks— the dragon, goat and monkey— using crease patterns. Students will learn how to shape their masks to give them that perfect expression. Some models will be wetfolded as time permits. Click on the photo to see all three masks. Class size limited to 10.

Learn to fold a basket, a pinwheel, a heart and lips; go tropical with a goldfish, a palm tree and a fan or create an adorable sitting puppy. Please come to class with one bath towel, one hand towel and five washcloths and get ready to turn towels into the magic of origami.

Year of the Dragon 2012

This delightful little modular dragon is made from “Golden Venture” units. The easy-to-make triangular units are put together to form the dragon. Sumako will show you how to turn them into ornaments, decorations, and greeting cards. Make 2012 a fiery and fabulous year!

Poinsettia Bloom

The poinsettia plant is a holiday classic! Bob’s design uses the traditional flower module in two layers with a stem to make a most realistic poinsettia bloom with green leaves, red or white bracts and the tiny yellow true flowers at the center. The class will make a red bloom and a white bloom, and possibly even more in different sizes as time permits.
