Tomoko Fuse's Triangle Box
Don’t be a square! Not if you have a stack of these ingenious stacking/nesting triangular boxes. Kathy will teach Tomoko Fuse’s Triangle Box in three sizes. The large size also acts as a lid for the medium box and the medium size acts as a lid for the small box. The clever part is that there is no cutting of paper required; the different sizes are obtained just by folding!
Baby Animals
Spring is almost upon us and the baby animals are ready to emerge! Get into this celebration of life and create a collection of cute critters with Bernice. She will teach a variety of baby animals including ducklings and bunnies. They are sure to bring a smile to your face during the blustery blahs of March weather.
Framed Mixed Media Miniatures
Get your hands dirty…but in a creative way of course! The class will use an interesting mix of techniques and media to create images. Media will include “ink-tense” watercolor pencils, water brushes, double tack mounting film, and fine-point markers as well as images and textures from magazines and junk mail. You can put them into a simple blintz base frame or you can create your own frames later.
Cake/triangular Box with Rose Motif
Now you’ll be able to have your cake and eat it too! Let Sandy show you how to fold and assemble a triangular box with a rose motif on the top. Six boxes can be put together to make a gorgeous “cake.” She will provide enough materials for practice and a full cake, as well as a plastic “cake carrier” and printed instructions. What a fun way to give out party favors!
Nick Robinson's Open Cube
When it comes to spring cleaning, here are two great models to help you de-clutter your desk. Nick Robinson’s Open Cube is perfect for keeping all those odds and ends in their place. The folding sequence is a lot of fun, as you make the model 3D and lock everything into place. The same is true of Philip Shen’s classic Bowl: easy to fold, fun and challenging to make 3D!
Family Fun - Spring Models
Celebrate springtime with a variety of cheery models. Candy will teach her favorites for this season. This class is a great opportunity for families to explore the magic of origami together. No experience is necessary. For children ages 8 and up. Adults without children are also welcome!
Roosters
Cockadoodledoo! It’s the Year of the Rooster and these cute and fairly easy fowl will keep you in the mood. Ros will teach two simple to low intermediate roosters by Kazuo Kobayashi. As time permits, additional traditional cluckers will be taught, ending with a fish base rooster attributed to Florence Temko, a true classic model.
Temple Box/candy Box
It’s a star, it’s a box, it’s both! This marvelous box has a square bottom but a Ninja star shaped top. As with the Ninja star, the flaps overlap and form a lock to the box. And it’s all out of one piece of paper. Hide a few treasures and treats for your guests! Strung together, they are reminiscent of temple bells/decorations.
Fellowship of the Rings
Come share the real magic of origami! Jan will teach a series of models that evolved from Mette Pederson’s original modular ring, introduced in 1989, as it spread around the world. Contributions from Paolo Bascetta, Michael LaFosse, Peter Budai and others illustrate the flexibility of Mette’s original idea and the world-wide nature of origami friendships.
Fireworks
You’ll definitely get a bang with your buck in this class! Wendy will teach this favorite modular created by Yami Yamauchi. Folded from 12-16 sheets, the modules create a very strong lock that allows the model to rotate and eventually “pop” into a beautiful display like “Fireworks!”
