The shape of this action model can be changed from "Arrow" to "Heart" by squashing. Last year, my good friend Jim Weir taught me a model he learned at the 2015 OrigamiUSA Convention: a modular action model called Squishy Parallelepipeds created by Tom Hull .

The cool geometric transformation was so intriguing, it inspired me to develop a single piece version.

My design is best folded from a rectangle with a specific ratio of 1:1.27. Using a square allowed me to explore other possibilities like shape variation or color change. Among my many variations, the heart-arrow shape transformation turns out to be one of my most satisfying results. It also resonates with my earlier favorite action design Can Love be Squashed? .
