The Red-Crowned Crane folded from kozo by Jane Rosemarin. See PDF diagrams.

A symbol of longevity, peace, and fortune in Japan, the crane has always been one of my favorite origami models. I remember seeing some of Sadako Sasaki’s origami cranes on exhibit when I was younger, and I’ve sought to use modern origami design techniques to improve upon the traditional design. After observing dancing cranes in Hokkaido a few years ago, I wanted to capture their elegance through origami.

I recommend using thinner paper as it allows for more lifelike appendages.
