Jun Maekawa's Demon was considered a complex model in its day but this is well within the reach of today's high intermediate folder comfortable with inside reverse folds, stretch and petal folds, and open sinks. Roll up your sleeves to fold and manipulate a number of bird bases with a strip grafted in for hands with fingers. Stretch your skills with Peter to fold the base and don't be afraid of this demon. (As time permits, Peter will help with the final shaping folds for a completed model.)

Beyond Columbus Cubes

The economy may be in the toilet but who says we can’t have some fun while we’re there! Jean and Mary Ann will teach a unique slider greeting card that uses an empty toilet paper tube as its base, perfect for decorating with flat origami and embellishing with your favorite craft supplies. Part two of the class will be models folded with toilet paper, as many as time permits. Please bring a new roll of toilet paper with you.

These neat note cards are mostly out of one piece of paper. Bob and Eunice will teach a variety of cards where the designs on the front are an integral part of the folded card. Included will be a leaf card, a bird card, a dinosaur card and a pop-up puppy.

A Beginner’s Course in Origami

Learn the basics to start you on your way to making delightful creations, from just a folded piece of paper! This introductory class is aimed at those who are curious about origami and want to try it for themselves. Members are welcome but why not invite a friend to share in the magic of origami. Price for this class is $20 for both members and non-members.

Celebrate the Year of the Tiger with this striped beast created by Seth Friedman. The model starts off with a deceptively simple fish base and the head is a variation of Seiji Nishikawa’s tiger. Ggggggrrrrrreat!!!

Chickens in a Basket

Baby chickens galore. You’ll learn at least five chicken recipes for fun including 2 models from a circle. As time permits, more babies will be included: ducks, swans, a blow-up bunny and turtle, which you will take home in a sturdy origami basket. Knowledge of squashes and inside/outside reverse folds necessary.

Peacocks

Maria will teach two peacocks. The first is a nice simple peacock with a full tail. But the second is an intermediate model that Maria will teach using a method that will allow less experienced folders to improve their skills while completing a model they may have considered beyond their reach. This class will move at a slow pace to make sure that everyone is keeping up and no one falls behind. This class is limited to 10 students.
