Convention 2022 Supplies

One square 8” or larger, kami or similar weight recommended

1 sheet of squared paper as thin as possible of size 20 centimeters or 8 inches. The sandwich paper best suits the model, but it can also be tissue foil or any other suited for complex folding.
1 bone folder (optional).

8 1/2" x 11" color sheets of paper -- 3 sheets for each participant that signs up including the teacher

6 sheets of 10" kami paper

Class time will be allotted so participants can cut an octagon out of a square. Tweezers recommended but not necessary

6-inch Tant paper, any color. 2 sheets for each student.

A single square of very large kami or foil paper is recommended (15"/38cm). With more practice you can use smaller sheets.

Six squares of 6-inch kami

10-inch kami recommended, but 6-inch and other papers will work. A bone folder is not necessary but definitely useful if you happen to have it

Requires one square sheet of paper, 8" or larger recommended.

Please bring at least 3 sheets of origami paper. Kami or two-tone is recommended for the color changes in the Garden Gnome and Butterfly. 15cmx15cm paper size is also recommended, but other sizes are okay.

6 inch kami

6inch or 10inch Duo Paper

One square 8” or larger, kami to elephant hide weight.

This model requires eight square sheets of duo paper. Thin 3" (7.5cm) squares are recommended. You will see both sides of the paper on the completed model, so consider your paper and color choice before folding this star.

For this model, we will need 8 square sheets of 7.5 cm (3 inch) paper.
Double-sided paper looks best for this model.
I will bring a paper cutter if anyone needs to cut a 15 cm sheets down and, hopefully, I will have some additional paper for you to choose from as well.

Larger paper of US $-bill proportion will be provided for the initial fold, crisp dollar bill is needed for the final model.

For this class, you will need a total of 4 sheets- 2 for each model, a bone folder, and a glue stick.

just what you have in your Kit

Five 8.5 inches square sheets of paper.

One square of two-color paper (I suggest the square be at least 10" on a side), which we will cut in half at the start of class.

Scissors or knife may be useful, but tearing your starting square in half can also work.

While the model can be assembled without glue, some glue can help strength the assembly and keep the layers of paper from opening up.

Students will use 2 sheets of the same color Kami for the Panda. The Strawberry paper will be provided.

15cm kami works just fine. Glue and tweezers can improve shaping, but are not necessary.

2 sheets 6" kami (or larger)

Kami, 4 to 6 inches.

One square of thin paper, light brown/white. 10" minimum, 12" recommended.

Standard 15 cm Origami Paper.

A single square of larger kami is recommended (10"/25cm). With more practice you can use smaller sheets.

13" (minimum) kami or similar thin/strong unicolor beige/sand color

The teacher will supply paper for the class. Paper required is:
30 cm Square (bottom); 20 cm square, 18 cm square, 16 cm square (tree portion)

Regular origami paper (6 x 6)

At least a 12-inch sheet of paper for the finished piece. Smaller sheets for working the introductory examples. Most any type of paper should work.

Teacher will provide pre cut materials for 25 students who are signed up for this class.

6 inch double tissue or tissue foil.

6 inch tant required. Regular kami will not work very well.

Nothing special

No supplies are needed to be provided by the convention or student. I will bring computer paper, pencils, rulers, and scissors.

Students would benefit from folding boards to put in their lap.

One 6" square of kami paper.

I'll be providing the white paper needed to make the lamps and will cut it to size beforehand. If students wish to purchase the specific bulb and lamp bases that I use, I will provide them so that students can walk away with a finished and functional lamp!

You need 6 rectangles that are each a half-square and the same size as each other. Unless you are super comfortable with small paper I recommend that you use 15 cm squares cut in half, or larger, for learning. Both sides of the paper show --- that is what gives it a "circus tent" effect. Paper that works well: Regular kami (i.e., white on the back), duo that is solid on both sides, duo that is print on one side and plain on the other side, duo foil or foil that is white on the back. You can see from the photos what different effects you can get from various paper choices. You can also see that the module for the square can be used in different numbers to fold many different polyhedra.
